About us

The History

Thellie and Barry Renshaw were local Angus cattle farmers, and butchered their own meat to provide for the area. In 1971 they bought the land BoxGrove is known for, and not long after in 1972 commenced the build of log cabins to serve as B&B accommodation and an event space for the local community. 

Now, grandaughters Kayla and Melissa, and Kayla’s husband Ben have continued the families signature hospitality. Together with their own families, they opened a hair salon, built a Barn to host weddings and special events, completed construction on a new luxury accommodation offering and have now planted the farms first vineyard.

FAQ

  • When you enter the property off Duramana Rd you will drive past Luxe Hair Salon on your left and paddocks on your right.

    Continue driving until you reach an opening in the paddock with a new dirt driveway, this is the driveway to Rest.

    If you reach The Barn at the bottom of the white gravel, you have gone too far!

  • As of November 2023, Luxe has changed it’s offering due to the competing demands of the business and the changing nature of the industry.

    Kayla and Melissa will be working on their own in the salon two days per week between the hours of 9-5pm.

    While in this interim period, the girls won’t be offering wedding hair styling or makeup so they can focus on cutting and colouring.

  • Rest is situated in the middle of our property behind our newly planted vineyards, approximately 1 km from our wedding venue, The Barn.

    If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of a wandering bride and groom getting some photographs in the sunset from your suite, but you will not hear or run into any wedding guests or see their special day.

  • Weddings can be tailored to suit the needs of our clients, so if you are unsure please contact weddings@boxgrove.com.au to set up a time to discuss what you are after.

  • The original log cabins built by Thellie and Barry will still be utilised for wedding accommodation, but the purpose of Rest is to provide weekenders and travelers a country escape agnostic to wedding celebrations where they can slow down and enjoy the heritage surroundings, local produce, and indulge in close by acclaimed restaurants if they choose.

  • BoxGrove is a licensed venue and offers beverage packages but we also offer a BYO package, this package includes RSA bar staff to serve your alcohol, glassware, cool room storage, and ice. The perks of being licensed? If you run out we can move onto our supply so no ending the night early.

  • Of course you can! We just ask that when hanging floral installations you have a florist with a working with heights certificate. We also have a prop list you can hire from.

    We offer styling if you would prefer not to do it yourself.

  • BoxGrove has the following accommodation options which mean up 62 total guests can stay at BoxGrove:

    Farm style cabins

    • Sleeps up to 40

    • 4 onsite cabins broken down into The Train which sleeps 10, the Yurt which sleeps 6, the BoxGrove Cottage which sleeps 8 and the Bunkhouse which can sleep up to 16

    Rest

    • Our new luxury accommodation offers six eco suites which can sleep up to 2 per suite

    • There is one three bedroom villa also available

    • Can sleep total 18

    Glamping tents

    • We have two glamping tents available

    • Two guests per tent, total 4

  • 2 nights are included when you book BoxGrove for your wedding. It’s completely up to you what 2 nights you would like to utilise. If you wish to stay longer than this please have a chat with the team and we will see what we can organise for you.

  • We have a minimum of 80 for our weekend wedding package, a minimum of 60 for our midweek and our elopement packages have no minimum.

  • There are not included in thKayla, our onsite flower queen would be more than happy to assist you with florals. She can chat to you about how a portion of this may be included in the styling package. If you decide not to book us for styling she can send you a floral quote separately.

  • We have carefully crafted four different alcohol packages for our couples to choose from. The packages are based on the amount of people you have attending your wedding and covers 6 hours. If you wish to continue the alcohol packages for longer than this time it is calculated by a tab. If you decide to do BYO you don’t need to worry about this!

  • The deposit is 35% of the venue hire fee for weddings and events. Your date is secured once we have received your deposit. The deposit is non refundable.

  • We call last drinks at 10.45pm and the barn closes at 11PM, however, if you have booked all accommodation for your wedding, your event is extended to a midnight conclusion.
